About
Carolyn Collins graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in 1982. She graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in May 1985 and became licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in November 1985. Carolyn became board certified in Family Law just five years later in 1990, with five years being the minimum amount of time an attorney is required to practice law in the State of Texas before becoming board certified in a specific area.
Carolyn is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and was the chairperson of the Austin Bar Association, Family Law Section, from 1996-1997. She has served on the Judicial Affairs Committee, Fee Dispute Committee and Legal Services to the Poor Committee through the Austin Bar Association. Carolyn has been a volunteer at the Volunteer Legal Services evening clinics for over twenty five years and is also part of their mentor program. Carolyn is an experienced litigator, but has also been a mediator since 1996 and was trained in the collaborative law method in 2000. She has been a speaker at Family Law seminars on the subject of ethics and has been appointed as a discovery master.
